Relativ früh ausgestanden. Dann in den Fitzgroy Garden gejoggt. Herrlich, so schön warm (23°) und die duftenden Bäume. Dann nach dem Frühstück mit Marg und Geoff zum Einkaufen und mir eine SIM-card von Vodafone zugelegt.


Leider hat das Teil aber nicht gleich funktioniert. Daher bin ich noch in einen Vodafone Shop und nun kann ich relativ günstig in Australien telefonieren und auch angerufen werden. Gut, dass man in der State Library kostenlos ins Internet kann.
Nach ca. zwei Stunden im Internet bin ich wieder zu Marg und Geoff. Wir haben fern gesehen, einen Teil einer Serie angesehen, gut zu Abend gegessen und dabei herrlichen australischen Wein getrunken.

An early start with a jog in the Fitzroy gardens. Wonderfully warm with (23°) and the smell of perfumed trees. Breakfast with Marg and Geoff and off to the shops to get a new sim for the mobile phone. After a few problems it was possible to get a good deal to phone and receive calls. Thank goodness the state library has free internet access. After about 2 hours in the library, back to Marg and Geoff for dinner, a little TV and a glass of excellent Australian wine.

Der Flughafen in Dubai ist ja riesig.

Dann ging es „flotten Schrittes“ zum Weiterflug nach Melbourne. Um 1:20 ging dann der „Flieger“ in die Luft. Unten die hell erleuchteten Straßen mit noch viel Verkehr. Es lagen über 12 Stunden vor mir. Eine lange Zeit in einem A380.

Schließlich relativ pünktliche Landung um 21:30 in Melbourne. Dann aber lange an der Schlange für die Zollabfertigung gestanden. Mit dem Skybus in die Stadt und gegen 23:30 dann endlich bei Marg und Geoff angekommen. Nun eine Nacht in einem richtigen Bett verbracht.

The airport in Dubai is huge. You have to walk quickly to get to your connecting flight to Melbourne. Before me was the long journeyof 12 hours in a A380. Finally almost punctual, the plane landed in Melbourne at 21:30 and after a long wait at customs, I took the Kybus to Marg and Geoff’s to finally sleep in a comfortable bed again.

Wie immer wurde es doch knapp. Das Gepäck war viel und schwer. Bis endlich alles im Rucksack war hat es „gedauert“. Schließlich hatte ich dann 26,5 Kg auf dem Rücken. Dann auch noch Laptop, Kamera, iPad,… im Handgepäck (nochmals ca. 10 Kg).
Bis wir wegkamen, war es 9:42, der Zug in Gärtringen fuhr aber schon um 8:52. Den konnte ich nicht mehr erreichen.
Nächste Möglichkeit: 9:22 ab Böblingen. Dann aber Stau auf der Autobahn. Schließlich bin ich um 9:16 angekommen, der Zug kam aber erst um 9:25. Der ICE zum Flughafen um 9:51 habe ich dann gerade so erreicht.

In Frankfurt gleich zur Abfertigung und hatte Glück, dass ich jeweils alleine in eine Reihe eingebucht wurde. Also unterwegs konnte ich mich ausbreiten und sogar einigermaßen schlafen.

As usual, the time was a problem and the luggage was far too heavy. With 26kg on my back and about 10kg of handluggage we finally got away. The train in Gärtringen was already gone and a traffic jam on the way to Böblingen made our attempt to reach the station difficult but doable and Gerhard got to Frankfurt on time. His seating on the plane allowed him to sleep stretched out over a few seats

Ich bin schon ganz gespannt auf den Abflug.

Der Abflug von Frankfurt nach Melbourne ist um 14:30. Ankunft wird am 28. Nov. um 21:20 sein.
Zwischenstopp in Abu Dabi.

Rückflug ist am 17. Feb. 2018.

Dazwischen möchten wir außer Melbourne vor allem Tasmanien ansehen. Anfang Feb. ist dann der Flug von Melbourne nach Perth und am 17. von Perth nach Frankfurt.

19.Mai 2012, Monkey Mia

In order to see the dolphins we went to the ocean after sunrise. All the about 200 spectators stood knee-deep in the water and the dolphins came up to their feet.
All in all there are about 3000 dolphins in Shark Bay. One female dolphin that was born in Monkey Mia 35 years ago can still be seen daily in Monkey Mia.



We had to decide whether we continued out trip or have a holiday-day in Monkey-Mia. We stayed one day more.

Because Gerhard wanted to see the soccer game Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea, he got talking to all kinds of people who may have had an interest in soccer, hoping someone knew where or how he could see the game on the TV. Unfortunately he dind't find anyone. Therefore he got up at 3 o'clock in the morning on Sunday and followed the game via internet radio.

20. Mai 2012, Monkey Mia - Geraldton

Watched the feeding of the dolphins today, too. This day's trip to Geraldton was 450 km. We made a short stop at Shell Bay. A bay that developed only from small shells. It's very funny to see this very large beach consisting only of tiny shells.



21. Mai 2012, Geraldton to Cervantes

Drove through cultivated landscape after Geraldton. This means there are fields, meadows and acres left and right of the road. The journey, about 250 km , was therefore over quickly and also very interesting.

Arrived in Cervantes in the early afternoon. We drove to the Pinnacles. This small national park is about 20 km away, and particularly interesting at sunset.








22. Mai 2012, Cervantes to Perth

Took down our tent in relatively strong winds. The wind on the road was very strong too and shook us a few times. Arrived in Perth in the early afternoon. Drove to Kings Park and achieved our goal, Melbourne to Perth in 40 days, about 12 000 km at around 300 per day.



Then we drove to Rob and Linda. Enjoyed a beautiful meal with roast pork and a bottle of wine. It was good as well to finally sleep in a bed again.

19.Mai 2012, Monkey Mia

Um die Delphine zu beobachten sind wir gleich nach Sonnenaufgang ans Meer. Die ca 200 Zuschauer standen alle knietief im Wasser und die Delpine kamen bis zu den Füßen.



Insgesamt gibt es in Shark Bay ca. 3000 Delphine. Ein Delphinweibchen wurde bereits vor 35 Jahren in Monkey Mia geboren und ist seither annähernd täglich in Monkey Mia zu sehen



Wir mussten uns entscheiden, ob wir weiterfahren oder in Monkey Mia einen Urlaubstag einlegen. Wie blieben noch einen Tag länger.

Da Gerhard unbedingt das Spiel Bayern München gegen Chelsea anschauen wollte. hat er sich ständig mit allen Leuten, die eventuell für Fußball Interesse hatten in Verbindung gesetzt in der Hoffnung dass jemand weiß wie oder wo dieses Spiel im Fernsehen zu sehen wäre. Leider hat sich niemand gefunden. Daher ist er in der Nacht von Samstag auf Sonntag um 3:00 Uhr morgens aufgestanden. Das Spiel hat er über Internetradio verfolgt.


20. Mai 2012, Monkey Mia - Geraldton


Auch an diesem Tag der Delpinfütterung zugesehen. Tagesetappe bis Geralton waren 450 km. Wir hatten noch einen kurzen Stopp am Shell Bay. Eine Bucht die ausschließlich aus kleinen Muscheln  entstanden ist. Es ist sehr witzig diesen sehr großen Strand zu sehen, der nur aus kleinen Muscheln besteht.

21. Mai 2012, Geraldton nach Cervantes

Ab Geraldton durch kultivierte Landschaft gefahren. D.h. es gibt Äcker, Wiesen und Felder links und rechts der Straße. Daher war die Reise, ca. 250 Km, schnell vorbei und auch sehr interessant.



Cervantes am frühen Nachmittag erreicht. Wir sind noch zu den Pinnacles gefahren. Dieser kleine Nationalpark, ca. 20 km entfernt, ist sehr interessant,insbesondere bei Sonnenuntergang.





22. Mai 2012, Cervantes nach Perth

Bei relativ starkem Wind unser Zelt abgebaut. Der Wind war auch auf der Straße sehr stark und hat uns einige Male gebeutelt. Am frühen Nachmittag in Perth angekommen. Zum Kings Park gefahren und damit das Ziel erfüllt, Melbourne nach Perth, in 40 Tagen, ca. 12.000 Km, also ca. 300 Km/Tag.



Dann raus zu Rob und Linda. Ein wunderbares Abendessen mit Schweinebraten und einer Flasche Wein genossen. Toll war auch, endlich mal wieder in einem Bett zu schlafen.

14. 05.2012, Karinjini NP - Beasley River (free camp site)

We climbed down to the Dales Gorge. It was beautiful to walk to Circular-Pool and then another 2 km to Fortress-Pool.



The geology has left a very fascinating picture here, too. The walk itself wasn't that easy and the small climbing sessions were very
enjoyable.





Once again we arrived at the camp site just before sunset and put up our tent immediately.



We were invited over for a drink by some campers, that had already been there and we very appreciated this offer. We even were invited for dinner by a very nice couple.


15.05.2012, Beasley River (free camp site) - Exmouth

We were also invited to breakfast by Anton and Cherrie and we had a cooked breakfast. This means bacon, eggs, fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms and toast. It was fabulous to have something very different to muesli for breakfast.

We drove to Exmouth (about 470km) that day.

16.05.2012 Exmouth

We rented out some equipment for snorkelling in the ocean. We drove to the National Park. Our destination was Tourquise Bay, 63 km out of Exmouth. Both of us were in the water four times and snorkelled intensely. This coral reef is beautiful. Many small and big fish in all different colours could bee seen.

Each of us saw a reef shark whilst snorkelling.

17.05.2012, Exmouth – Carnarvon

After breakfast we made a motorcycle check up. The chain, the battery, the air filters were checked and greased / filled up.

Our first aim was to get to Coral Bay which is about 160 km from Exmouth. The bay ( Coral Bay ) itself is very nice but full of tourists though.

We continued until Carnarvan. This is one of the oldest towns in WA. Went on a short drive to the harbour and back to the centre of the town.



18.05.2012 Carnavon – Monkey Mia

We had a good night sleep. It is very comfortable to sleep at normal temperatures, about 15-20 ° C by night and to only have around 20-25 ° C during the day. Feel a lot more comfortable in these degrees of latitude.

Drove further South and had our first longer stop in Denham. Denham is a place where now and then ships stranded at in the past. Today Denham is a pure tourist town.

The journey itself was in respect of landscape, relatively boring once again. Except when you were close to the sea and left or right you could see the blue colour of the water.

Arrived in Monkey Mia in the early afternoon. The sunset at the Indian ocean is very beautiful.

14. 05.2012, Karinjini NP - Beasley River (freier Campingplatz)

Wir sind in den Dales George hinunter gestiegen.



Es war wunderbar zum Circular-Pool und von dort 2 km zum Fortress-pool zu wandern. Auch dort hat die Geologie ein unheimlich faszinierendes Bild hinterlassenen.



Die Wanderung selbst war nicht ganz einfach und die kleinen Kletterpartien haben viel Spaß gemacht.





Einmal mehr kurz vor Sonnenuntergang den Campingplatz erreicht und sofort unser Zelt aufgestellt. Wir wurden dann von den Campern, die schon da waren, auf einen Drink eingeladen und haben dieses Angebot gerne angenommen. Wir wurden sogar noch zum Abendessen von einem sehr netten Paar eingeladen.



15.05.2012, Beasley River (freier Camping Platz) - Exmouth

Wir wurden von Anton und Cherrie auch zum Frühstück eingeladen und es gab ein gekochtes Frühstück. D.h. Bacon, Eggs, fried tomatoes und fried Mushrooms und Toast. Es war wunderbar einmal etwas ganz anderes als Müsli zum Frühstück zu essen.

Wir haben an diesem Tag ca. 470 km nach Exmouth zurückgelegt.

16.05.2012 Exmouth

Wir haben uns die Ausrüstung fürs Schnorcheln im Meer ausgeliehen.

Wir sind wir in den Nationalpark gefahren. Unser Ziel war die Tourquise Bay, 63 km entfernt von Exmouth. Jeder von uns war viermal im Wasser und hat ausgiebig geschnorchelt.



Dieses Korallenriff ist wunderschön. Viele bunte, kleine und große Fische in allerlei schillernden Farben waren zu sehen.

Wir haben auch Beide unabhängig voneinander einen Riffhai gesehen.

17.05.2012, Exmouth – Carnarvon

Nach dem Frühstück haben wir einen Motorradcheck durchgeführt. Die Kette, Batterie, die Luftfilter wurden überprüft und gefettet bzw. aufgefüllt.

Unser erstes Ziel war Coral Bay, ca. 160 km von Ex mouth entfernt. Die Bucht selbst (Coral Bay) ist sehr schön, jedoch voller Touristen.

Wir sind noch bis Carnarvon. Dies ist eine der ältesten Städte in Westaustralien. Noch eine kurze Stadtrundfahrt zum Hafen und zurück ins Zentrum unternommen.

18.05.2012 Carnavon – Monkey Mia

Wir haben die Nacht gut verbracht. Es ist angenehm bei normalen Temperaturen, ca. 15-20° in der Nacht, zu schlafen und auch tagsüber nur 20-25° zu haben. Fühlen uns in diesen Breitengraden einfach viel wohler.

Weiter nach Süden gefahren und haben unseren ersten größeren Stopp dann in Denham gemacht.



Denham ist ein Ort an dem schon in der Vergangenheit immer wieder Schiffe gestrandet sind. Heute ist Denham ein reiner Touristenort.

Die Fahrt selbst war wiederum landschaftlich gesehen relativ langweilig. Außer wenn man in der Nähe des Meeres war und links oder rechts die blaue Farbe des Wasser gesehen hat.

In Monkey Mia sind wir am frühen Nachmittag angekommen. Sehr schön ist der Sonnenuntergang im indischen Ozean.

10.05.2012, Fitzroy Crossing – Willara Road House

There was an interesting camp-kitchen in Fitzroy Crossing. Because the camp site is in a flood plane area, all facilities are on little hills. The camp-kitchen and the toilets, too. This time we push started the bike after breakfast by letting it roll down the camp-kitchen hill.

We went to the Geike Gorge. We went on a 2 h walk there. First we walked along the backside of the hill and then the river.



Stayed at Willara Roadhouse very cheaply for only 15 $. We met a couple from Taiwan who are travelling on a large BMW motorcycle. Jeff and Michele are travelling around the whole of Australia. Jeff has already travelled through Russia to Europe and through North-, Central- and Southamerica on a motorcycle.

11.05.2012, Willara Road House – Broome

In the morning we were repairing around on Gerhards bike, when Jeff found out that it wasn't the starter motor or anything else broken, it was simply a dry battery. After we had refilled the battery the motor started without any issues.

Then we drove to Broome quite briskly. We enjoyed the sunset at Cable Beach.

12.05.2012, Broome – Pardoo Road House

We weren't able to sleep very well. It was fairly loud and very humid. In the night we still had about 30°C. The next morning our tent was completely wet from the outside and the inside. It was disgusting.

We watched the sunrise and took some fotos.



We drove 460 km to Pardoo Roadhouse.

In the evening we talked to the staff of the roadhouse, who all come from different parts of the world.

It's very interesting that the roadhouse had been completely destroyed by a cyclone on 17. March 2012. Meanwhile a lot has been rebuilt and the roadhouse itself works quite well again.

13.05.2012, Pardoo Road House – Karinjini National Park
Port Hedland is purely an iron ore export town. At this harbour millions of tonnes of ore are shipped to China.



Our next stopp was the Karinjini National Park. The first 300 km after Port Hedland were exceptionally boring. Flat and strait roads. But the last 100 km were very nice.



The camp site in the national park was very poorly equipped, no tables, no showers, no power and no water.
