Seit Freitag den 13. ist viel passiert. Unsere erste Nacht haben wir in einem Campingplatz nahe des Port Phillip Bay bei Werribee verbracht. Nach Werribee sind wir süd-westlich entlang der Great Ocean Road gefahren. Nach Apollo Bay haben wir im Otway Nationalpark übernachtet. Anders als gedacht, war der Campingplatz im Nationalpark sehr voll und es gab kaum noch Platz. Am Sonntag sind wir über die 12 Apostles nach Bendigo gefahren. Da wir verspätet waren, mussten wir gut 100 km im Dunkeln fahren, was sehr gefährlich ist! In Bendigo haben wir Theresa und Daryl besucht und dort auch die Nacht verbracht. Am Montag haben wir erst mal eine 12 Volt-Dose an Gerhards Motorrad befestigt um während der Fahrt Batterien o.Ä. zu laden. Montag abends haben wir bei Echuca in einem Campingplatz übernachtet. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste. Unser Zelt stand zwischen Booten und Campingbaracken. Dienstags sind wir früh losgekommen, was den Tag insgesamt entspannt hat. Nach etwa 350km und ein paar Stopps sind wir dann in Mildura angekommen. Wir haben den selben Campingplatz wie schon vor 5 Jahren benutzt.

Since Friday the 13. a lot has happened. We spent our first night close to Port Phillip Bay in a campsite near Werribee. Leaving Werribee we drove further South-Westerly on bits of the Great Ocean Road. After Apollo Bay we stayed in the Otway Nationalpark. Quite different as we thought, the Nationalpark was very full and there weren't many spaces left. On Sunday we drove to Bendigo via the 12 Apostles. Because we were a bit late we had to drive around 100km in the dark, which is very dangerous! In Bendigo we met Theresa and Daryl and spent the night at their house. On Monday we first of all fitted a 12 volt socket to Gerhard's motorbike, in order to load up batteries and things like that during riding. Monday evening we stayed at a campsite near Echuca. We were the only guests. Our tent stood between boats and long term camper-trailors. Tuesday we got on the road early, which relaxed the whole day in general. After about 350km and a few stops we arrived in Mildura. We used the same campsite as 5 years ago.

Auf dem Flug von Frankfurt nach Shanghai habe ich(Gerhard) kaum geschlafen. Bin dennoch gegen 7:30 in die Stadtmitte von Shanghai gefahren. Da der Schnellzug im Bahnhof außerhalb der Stadtmitte endet, habe ich dann hin und zurück die normale S-Bahn genommen. Vorteil: Kontakt mit vielen Leuten. Nachteil: Kontakt mit viel mehr Menschen, als gewollt.
Der Tag in Shanghai war sooo schnell wieder vorüber: Airport ->People-Square ->Bond -> Yunyan Garden-> Bond -> "Königstr. von Shanghai->Airport
In Melbourne habe ich dann festgestellt, dass Geoffrey von den gleichen Gaunern "über den Tisch gezogen wurde".

Melbourne: Erster Tag war für die Akklimatisierung. Am zweiten Tag sind wir dann zum Test des ersten Motorrades. Wir werden das "Gerät" nun auch kaufen. Am Abend waren wir in St. Kilda am Beach. Gutes Bier, Lifemusik - "Easy-living" so kann der Urlaub nun beginnen.



Am Montag haben wir, relativ weit außerhalb von Melbourne, ein Bike getestet. Auch diese Maschine werden wir kaufen. War eine lange Fahrt raus und wieder rein nach Melbourne.
Am Osterdienstag war die Bank glücklicherweise offen. Wir hatten nach 3 h endlich unsere Bankangelegenheiten geregelt und haben noch je ein Motorrad getestet. Leider sind die "schlechteren" Motorräder vom Händler insgesamt ca. 2000 AUD teurer als von Privat.
Mittwoch und Donnerstag haben wir mit dem Kauf von "Bits und Pieces" verbracht. Die Versicherungen "gecheckt", die Bedingungen des örtlichen ADAC abgefragt, einen Straßenatlas gekauft,.......Gestern noch einen lustigen Familienabend verbracht.
Am Freitag, den 13. geht es nun endlich los.

Although I (Gerhard) didn't slepp a lot on the flight from Frankfurt to Shanghai, I took the Metro into the city at 7:30. The Transrapid would have stopped outside the city centre, so I took the "S-Bahn".
Advantage: Contact to many people
Disadvantage: Contact to a lot more people than I wanted ;-)
The day in Shanghai was over sooo quickly: Airport ->People-Square ->Bond -> Yunyan Garden-> Bond -> "Königstr. von Shanghai"->Airport

In Melboure I found out that Geoffrey had been ripped off by the same crooks.
Melbourne: The first day was for acclimatising. On the second day we went out to test-ride the first bike, which we are going to buy. In the evening we went to St.Kilda Beach and had good beer and live music - "Easy-living" now the holdays can start.



On Monday we tested the next bike, which was quite a bit out of town. We're also going to buy this bike. It was a long drive out and back into Melbourne. On Eastertuesday the banks luckyly were open. It took 3 hours to finally get all things sortet out with the bank and each of us tested another bike later. Unfortunately the "worse" bikes of the dealer cost 2000 AUD more than the privately sold ones.
Wednesday and Thursday we spent getting "Bits and Pieces", checked out the insurances and the RACV, bought a Streetatlas of Australia...... Yesterday we spent a lovely family-night at Nana and Papa's place.

On Friday the 13. we will finally take off.

Watched most of the Australian Dragonboat Championship today and the best thing, my uncle Terry won the masters Dragonboat 20. Meaning: agegroup 40-50, 20 men paddling, 1 man steering and 1 woman drumming.

Terry is the person in the front of boat nr. 3, paddling on the left side.

Hab' mir heute den Großteil des Australian Dragonboat Championship angeschaut und das Beste, mein Onkel Terry gewann das Masters Dragonboat 20. Bedeutet: Altersklasse 40-50, 20 Männer paddeln, 1 man lenkt und eine Frau trommelt. Terry ist die Person vorn links in Boot nr 3.

An diesem Tag hab ich mir die Stadt angeschaut. Mithilfe des Free Bus kam ich durch die ganze Stadt und stieg mittags in den Royal Botanic Gardens aus



und da gab es ziemlich schöne Pflanzen



und Blüten



Nachmittags half ich meiner Cousine beim Umzug.

I had a look at the city today. With a little help from the free bus I came around the city and got off the bus at the Royal Botanic Gardens where there were beautiful plants and buds. In the afternoon I helped my cousin to move out.

Nach einer 2 stündigen Zugfahrt kamen wir in Bendigo an.



Nach einem Spaziergang und dem Mittagessen haben wir, meine Großeltern und ich, uns eine Austellung angeschaut von Theresa Poletti Glover (http://feltart.com.au/). Danach fuhren wir zu Theresa and Darryls Haus und aßen dort zu Abend. Nach einer Nacht im Shamrock Hotel gingen wir erst durch den Stadtpark in dem wir hunderte Flying Foxes entdeckten, danach erkundeten wir weite Teile Bendigos zu Fuß.

After a 2 hour trip via Train we arrived in Bendigo.

After a short walk and lunch we, my grandparents and I, had a look at Theresa Poletti Glover's exhibition (http://feltart.com.au/). After the exhibtion we drove to Theresa and Darryl's place and had dinner with them. After a night in the Shamrock Hotel we walked through the citypark and discovered hundreds of flying foxes, later we explored other parts of Bendigo on foot.

Nach der Ankunft in Melbourne um etwa 10 Uhr war erstmal chillen angesagt. Abends gingen wir, meine Großeltern und ich, zu einer Spendenaktion für das St Vincent Hospital, der Oper im Markt. Aufgebaut war die Oper im Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, es gab gutes Essen, kühle Getränke und hervorragenden Gesang.



After the arrival in Melbourne at around 10 AM, I first of all had to relax. In the evening we, my grandparents and I, went to a fundraising for the St Vincent Hospital, the Opera in the market. The Opera was set up in the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, there was great food, cool drinks and brilliant singing.

In Shanghai angekommen, regnete es. Ich bin durch die Stadt gelaufen und habe viele Fotos geschossen. Aufgefallen sind mir besonders die Kontraste, Reich und Arm. Ein brandneuer 7er BMW, natürlich 8 Zylinder, auf der einen Seite, ein Slum mit zerfallen Häusern auf der anderen Seite. Ich habe versucht dies in einem Foto einzufangen



Arrived in Shanghai, it rained. I walked through the city und took many photos . What struck me most where the contrasts, rich and poor. A brandnew series 7 BMW, of course with 8 cylinders, on the one side and a slum with decaying houses on the other side. I tried to capture this with a foto.

bin ich nun schon in Australien. Nach einem halbtägigen Stop in Shanghai ging es endlich nach Melbourne. Dort lebe ich bei meinen Großeltern mitten in Melbourne. Bisher habe ich meine Verwandten besucht, das Kino besucht, viel gutes Essen zu mir genommen, nach Motorrädern für die große Tour gesucht, ein Footballspiel live gesehn und viele kleinere Erkundungen von Melbourne unternommen. Die angesprochene Motorradtour startet um den 14. April und wird in diesem Blog dokumentiert. Hauptdarsteller der Motorradtour sind Gerhard und Geoffrey (ich).

I arrived in Australia on the 21.March. After a halfday stop-over in Shanghai I finally arrived in Melbourne. There, I'm living with my grandparents in the middle of the city. Since then I've visited some relatives, visisted the movies, had great food, looked for motorcycles for our trip, watched a game of football and went vor many small explorations around Melbourne. The motorcycletrip I mentioned before will start around the 14. April und will be documented in this Blog. Main actors of the motorcycletrip are Gerhard and Geoffrey (me).
